Longitude made more clear
The number of longitude can be unclear. The reason for this is that you can use different notations for the same longitude. Which is of course strange and kind of difficult. As you know we don’t like things complicated. We like to make things easy.
Apglos Survey Wizard is an example of that. It is an easy to use land survey app. But still it uses latitude and longitude. That is also what you expect from a GPS land surveying app. But in the paragraph before we told you that the longitude is complicated.
But to explain you we need to tell you more about the longitude. The longitude gives an indication of where you are on the earth. Together with the latitude it gives you an exact position. So the longitude tells you how many degrees you are east or west of the prime meridian.
The prime meridian is an imaginary line from north to south going through Greenwich in the United Kingdom. The longitude on this imaginary line is 0 degrees.
The distance to this prime meridian can be measured to the east and to the west. But the maximum longitude is 360 degrees. And if you have that value you are back on the prime meridian again.
It makes it more difficult knowing that a longitude -210 west is the same as a longitude of 150 east. So we made that easy for you in Apglos Survey Wizard. We always tell you the longitude in the eastern direction. And to make it more clear we changed the icon for the longitude. Now it indicates the (e) for east.
The same trick we did for the latitude. Here we added (n) to the icon. So then you can know that the direction that Apglos Survey Wizard measures and tells you the latitude is in the northern direction.
File management for Android 10
Besides making the longitude and latitude numbers more clear we also improved the file management for Android 10. Android is just like Apglos Survey Wizard. It keeps improving. So that means also things change. And we keep Apglos Survey Wizard well to function on the latest Android version. And now that is Android 10.
So we had to do some small changes to keep Apglos Survey Wizard work even better in Android 10. Now everyone can use Apglos Survey Wizard in a way that it is intended.
Coordinate reference systems added for China
China is a big country.
It also has lots of coordinate reference systems. And in this version 2.28 we added all the current coordinate reference systems for China. So that means the conversion from latitude, longitude and ellipsoidal height to x-, y- and z-coordinates for all current coordinate systems of China are now integrated in Apglos Survey Wizard.
So now you can land survey even in a bigger part of the world. And we won’t stop with China. We will keep on adding coordinate reference systems. That is one more reason to keep checking our website.
